Top Ten – DIY Father’s Day Gifts

I thought I’d take this week’s Top Ten Tuesday to share some of my favorite DIY Father’s Day gifts. I can’t believe Father’s Day is only a few days away! Luckily, a lot of these projects seem pretty straightforward, so you still have time to put together a great handmade gift for Dad! Just click on the link below the pictures to access the tutorials :)

10.) Argyle Sock Vase. We’ll start with the usual suspects… Dad might be used to getting socks for Father’s Day, but he’s probably never received sock vases (with some manly flowers, of course). I really like this idea — the only reason it’s not higher on my list is because I’m not a huge fan of argyle!

9.) Handmade Ties. You can’t go wrong with a nice necktie, but a HANDMADE necktie will definitely earn you bonus points.

8.) Hand Hemstitched Linen Handkerchief. I have a soft spot for handkerchiefs, and this tutorial for handmade handkerchiefs is awesome.

7.) Custom Painted Coffee Mugs. These are so sweet and simple, and what dad doesn’t like coffee?!

6.) Retro Lego Cufflinks. So. Stinking. Amazing.

5.) Framed Father’s Day Questionnaire. This is SUCH a cute idea from a young child… As a modified version for older kids, you could find a piece of artwork or poetry from when they were younger and frame it (luckily Liz is a pat-rack and has tons of old stuff from when she was younger).

4.) Toiletry Bag. Especially fitting for the travelin’ dad!

3.) Mini Mint Toolboxes. Made out of used Altoids tins! Okay, so they might not be the most functional toolboxes, but they would DEFINITELY be helpful in storing the odds and ends nuts and bolts.

2.) Classic Leather Notebook. Everything about this completely handmade notebook is perfect. Anyone ever tried bookbinding before? It scares Liz and Tom, but it can’t be THAT difficult!

1.) Wood Clock. I love this clock. I love the wood piece. I love the hand-written number twelve. And I love the charming red hands. Ack, too much to have one in every room?

Alright, time to go work on my DIY Father’s Day gift to Tom. Hopefully it’ll be done by tomorrow so I can share :)
