Top Ten – DIY Cupcake Toppers

I know, I know, top TEN… Well, I couldn’t pick ONLY ten, so instead you get 25 great DIY Fourth of July cupcake topper ideas :)

Starting with printable cupcake toppers. Love these easy DIYs! And did I mention that they’re FREE!?!

{25: Poppies at Play, 24: Bella Grace Party Designs, 23: Made in a Day, 22: Hoosier Homemade}

So many great ideas for cupcake toppers made of paper. I love the Fourth of July flower cupcake picks (#20) and “Interstate 4” cupcake picks (#19) below…

{21: It’s Overflowing, 20: Printable Party Kits, 19: Color Sizzle, 18: Silhouette}

Pendant and ribbon cupcake toppers are a great option also. Who would have thought to use Washi Tape to make cupcake picks (#17)!? And can we talk about how cute the cupcake liner is in #14?!

{17: Shaken Together, 16: Creature Comforts, 15: Thoughtfully Simple, 14: Ellinee, 13: Style Me Pretty}

Of course there are always MORE paper cupcake topper options… The USA topper (#11) and blue and white bunting topper (#10) are so sweet I had to include them (even though they’re technically a cake pop topper and cake topper) — they could certainly be used on cupcakes! The bunting (#10) actually spells out “love”, which makes it even better :)

{12: Today’s Creative Blog, 11: Sweet Rose Studio, 10: B.loved, 9: The Long Thread}

And for some star cupcake topper ideas… The stars in #7 spell out “sparkle” and the stars in #6 are sugar cookies!

{8: Fiskars, 7: Icing Designs, 6: Inchmark}

 My top five Fourth of July cupcake toppers span pinwheels, sparklers, firecrackers…

{5: Martha Stewart, 4: Two Shades of Pink, 3: Larchmont Buzz}

And of course MORE sparklers! I LOVE #2, but you definitely can’t go wrong with the real thing (#1!).

{2: Be Different Act Normal, 1: Marlein Overakker}

Hope you enjoy my favorite Fourth of July cupcake topper ideas!! Please don’t forget to follow me by E-mail or RSS, or Like my Facebook page to show me some love!

DIY Summer Napkin Rings

A few months ago Liz found a great tutorial on The Sweetest Occasion making colorblock napkin rings from shower hooks and embroidery thread. The final version (below) turned out amazing, so Liz has been wanting to try this DIY project (pretty much since the moment she saw the tutorial)…

Well she finally got around to it! She decided to go with summery Fourth of July colors, making a couple of napkin rings red and white and a couple of rings navy blue and white. And yes those ARE the clear shower rings from Target that cost about $1.20 for a 12-pack!

The only bad thing about the shower rings are that they’re not perfectly round — there’s a groove at the connection. This would’ve driven Liz crazy, so she went ahead and glued a thin strip of paper around the ring to smooth things out. Seemed to work out pretty well!

She then hot glued the end of both the red and white embroidery thread to the inside of the shower ring and started wrapping the red thread around the ring (keeping the white thread underneath). She switched back and forth between the thread colors at different intervals and then hot glued the ends of the thread once the ring was fully wrapped.

I have to say that the rings turned out awesome!

Liz had to stop after two rings (these things are a little bit trickier than they look!)… But there are many more on the way, I’m sure :)

Anyways, hope you have a good week!
